This past weekend, we said goodbye to someone who will never be forgotten.
Bill Spinosa didn’t have children of his own, but anyone who knew him — anyone who worked with him, was coached by him, led alongside him, or simply crossed his path — knows that he spent his life fathering connection, growth, courage, and joy in others.
Bill was more than a friend, colleague, or partner in this work. He was the heart of every team he led — a fierce protector of people and purpose, a gentle challenger of egos, and a steady voice reminding us of why we do what we do. He helped people find their way back to their best selves.
He made you feel seen. He made you feel capable. He made you feel like you mattered.
The Man Behind the Mission
In his weekly updates as Director of Leadership for Operation Sacred Trust — always thoughtful, often filled with warm humor and personal gratitude — Bill never just reported on tasks. He reflected. He coached. He honored. He lifted up others.
Even in the most uncertain moments, Bill remained anchored in compassion and clarity.
He didn’t talk about crisis — he talked about character. He saw every challenge as a chance to rise.
Bill loved this work. Not just because it mattered, but because it changed lives. His greatest fulfillment came from watching team members grow into their power. He coached people into leadership not with pressure, but with presence.
The Joy Day Man
To know Bill was to experience joy — the real kind. The kind that doesn’t depend on circumstances. The kind that comes from choosing to be fully alive, fully here, fully human.
He created a Joy Day Experience training as a way to help people reconnect with their sense of purpose and play. But truthfully, every day with Bill had a little Joy Day in it. Whether it was a coaching call, a morning meeting, or an email check-in, he always left people better than he found them.
He saw the sacred in the everyday. The potential in the discouraged. The extraordinary in the ordinary.
Bill helped people remember who they were — and who they could become.
Fatherhood, Redefined
We often talk about fatherhood as a role that transcends biology. It’s about being present. Being responsible. Being a force for good in the lives of others.
Bill lived that every day.
He fathered leadership.
He fathered connection.
He fathered a legacy of integrity, joy, and love.
And like the very best fathers, he made us feel safe enough to grow.
Today, we remember and celebrate a man who leaves behind no children, but an entire family of colleagues, friends, and clients who will carry forward his light.
Thank you, Bill.
Thank you for being who you were.
You’ll always be part of this family.
